Frosty Boy Abroad – With Felipe Demartini
It’s been a busy year for Frosty Boy already, as we further our reach into international markets.
Export represents about 75 per cent of our business, and we currently supply to 49 countries.
Part of my role at Frosty Boy is to identify the various opportunities for us to grow in new and existing markets. A huge part of being able to do this is to be on the ground in the markets we wish to expand in, meeting potential customers and educating them on the benefits of using Frosty Boy’s frozen dessert and beverage powdered bases.
For me, this was India last month. I was over there for nine days; with two spent at the International Boost Conference in Delhi, with the other seven travelling to meet prospective customers.
Trips like these are such eye-openers and a great way to discover first-hand what each market is doing and the challenges business owners are facing. With this knowledge, Frosty Boy is empowered to provide businesses great solutions.
The Boost Conference was incredibly valuable. Here I was able to present on Frosty Boy’s products, while using it as an excellent networking opportunity. It was quite intimate, with Boost’s international partners attending from eight countries, and I felt at the forefront of the owners and decision makers.
Surrounding this conference, I was able to visit prospective customers across Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai.
India is an interesting market and a number of the larger companies are producing good quality soft serve ice-cream, but some of the smaller businesses are still sourcing dessert products from an unregulated market.
We can do a great deal to improve this situation – with a plethora of benefits for the business owners.
India is still a relatively new market for us and as we found with China, it takes up to three years to establish Frosty Boy into a new market.
During this trip, it was a great chance to introduce our product, demonstrating the ease of storage and use, while allowing prospective customers to taste our product and compare it to what the current market has to offer.
In the coming months we will be sending these companies samples of our products – both our dessert and beverage powder bases - while also collating a detailed business plan demonstrating how Frosty Boy can help them succeed.
India presents a massive opportunity for Frosty Boy, and we can’t wait to get started!
