D015 FROSTY ICE NEUTRAL SLUSH BASE

Economical powder-based slush

Product Code: D015.00

Description: Frosty Ice is a NEUTRAL POWDER-BASED SLUSH BASE which is mixed with water and then flavoured using a range of flavour-colour concentrates called FLAVACOLS. This is the most economical slush base and convenient because you have one product with a 2-year shelf life which is flavoured on demand. And because you are not shipping or storing any water (being a powder base) you are saving space, cost and have a longer shelf life.

Ingredients: Sugar, Food Acid (330), Preservative (202), Vegetable Gum (415).

Packaging: 11 kg/carton (10 x 1.1kg) Frosty Ice is packed in airtight food-grade, foil-laminate bags.

Storage / Shelf Life: Storage is below 30ºC with a shelf life of 24 months. After mixing, it is stored below 5ºCelsius (41ºF.) and used within 3 days.

Yield: Each bag (1.1 kg) is mixed into 7 litres of water So yield per bag is 8.1 kg or approximately 7.9 litres per sachet - 79 litres per carton, 86 litres when frozen down including 9% ice expansion.)

260 x 330 ml serves (11 ounce) per carton.

Mixing is simple:
  • Pour 7 litres water into graded mixing container.
  • Open one bag (1.1 kg) and add to water. Stir until dissolved.
  • Accurately measure the Flavacols of your choice (~10 mL Frosty Boy Flavacol per litre of neutral slush, so 80 mL to one bag of Frosty Ice - this can be changed to taste) and pour into the mix and stir again.
  • It is now ready to feeze down.

EQUIPMENT:

  • What to consider before buying a slush machine?
    • Quality and after sales service. Buy a reliable machine from a reputable company to ensure availability of spare parts and quick service.
    • Demand and Capacity. Slush machines are available in 5, 10 and 12 litre bowls. Then you get 1, 2 and 3-bowl machines. How many serves will you do over your busiest period? In what space of time?
    • Your offering. How many different flavours and products do you want to offer your customers? Perhaps 2 colours of slush plus a refrigerated orange juice...? Then you need a 3-bowl machine!
    • Application. Slush machines have refridgeration mode (for juices for instance) and freezing mode for freezing slush or ice coffee.
    • Is it better to RENT one or LEASE one? (typical rent /lease periods are 36 or 48 months)
      • With renting, it is an off-balance sheet expense and the payments are tax deductible.
      • With leasing, you can claim interest back and depreciate your asset.

CLEANING & SANITISING:

It is important to follow the cleaning and sanitising procedures and frequency specified by your equipment supplier.

Average cleaning cycles for milk-based products like iced coffee is 48 hours and weekly for all other slush products.
