A bit of History
Frosty Boy´s success story began in 1976 when the company was born out of a need for better quality soft serve and a larger, unique range of soft serve blends at affordable prices.
At that time, Frosty Boy started out as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Taylor Freezer of Australia (agent for US based Taylor Soft Serve Machines). Over the years, Frosty Boy was owned by multinationals like Australian Dairies, NZMP (New Zealand Milk Powder) and BONLAC - now Fonterra. In 1999, Frosty Boy again became a privately owned company specialising in dairy-based powder blends with a strong focus on soft serve and frozen yoghurt bases.
Our brand is well recognized throughout the soft-serve industry (nationally and internationally) where the quality of our blends speaks for itself. Our geographical location gives us easy access to fresh, top-quality ingredients, using only credible suppliers with strict food safety accreditations in place - offering our customers the best!
Frosty Boy is a highly experienced, highly motivated and successful Australia-wide organisation with global resources and connections. We are known for our superior quality and extensive range of products that have been developed over many years. Our combined knowledge, expertise and commitment to meet changing customers´ needs sets our company apart.
What we do
Over the past 26 years, we have expanded from manufacturing only Vanilla Soft Serve (both liquid and powder bases), to also include ´Frozen Yoghurt´, Low Fat Vanilla Soft Serve Bases, Low Fat Chocolate Soft Serve Bases, Gelato Ice Cream Bases, Granita Bases, Drinking Chocolate, Frappe Bases, Chai, Jellies, Milkshake Flavourings, Coffee Syrups, Retail-size Milk Powder, Malted Milk Powder and Soft-serve Flavourings.
We also contract manufacturing for customers, which includes milk powder blends, soft serve (under their own brand name) and retail size milk powder sachets.
Frosty Boy Australia is also an on-seller of various types of equipment relating to the typical ice cream shop or smoothie bar e.g. soft serve equipment, slush machines and blenders. Our range offers customers an all-in-one solution to their entire equipment needs on easy payment terms.
Our manufacturing facilities
In July 2004 we moved to a new factory and invested in brand new, state-of-the-art equipment. The world´s most gentle but thorough blending equipment and most accurate filling equipment were installed to ensure world-class manufacturing practice and safety. The batching, blending and filling processes are computer-controlled, resulting in unparalleled precision and accuracy.
Our safety processes include an in-line rare-earth metal magnet, 3mm sifter, in-line check-weigher and X-ray equipment. Each bag coming off the production line is X-rayed for foreign objects or matter and even some lumps are detected. The X-ray process is so accurate it will pick up unwanted material like metal shavings as small as 0.5mm. The system also has an auto-reject feature, rejecting product not within specified parameters.
Our own laboratory with full-time Quality Control Manager ensures that every batch of soft serve (and other products) leaving the factory has been tested for quality and integrity and we keep a library sample of all our powder mixes for 2 years in the event of possible queries with regards to a specific batch.
We then go one step further and have each batch bacteriologically tested by an independent laboratory before the product is released into the market, ready for distribution and sale. We have an impeccable food safety record that we are proud of!
We manufacture under a strict HACCP Food Safety code of practice with regular audits done by NFSC, AQIS and Safe Food Queensland, as well as by external customers like YUM Restaurants. On average, our company is audited externally more than 6 times a year.
How far and wide do we do business
From this factory location in Loganholme (just south of Brisbane), we provide services to our own distributor network, national clients and international customers.
We export to many overseas countries - mostly the Asia-Pacific region, North America, and the Middle East, and we are just starting to make inroads into Europe.
We handle all export and shipping documents on behalf of overseas customers through our in-house Export Department.
Our National Distribution Network covers all the states of Australia. Our distributors are a one-stop-shop to ice creameries, mobile ice-cream vans, restaurants, hotels, fast food outlets, etc for all their ice cream and granita related needs.
