Live & Active Probiotic Yoghurt Cultures!

The secret of our carefully developed Frosty Boy frozen yoghurts and yoghurt soft serves are that:

  •   we use the best quality probiotic culture strains
  • we use very large numbers of cultures into some of our yoghurt blends – typically more than 1 million bacteria in every gram of frozen yoghurt eaten! Depending on which yoghurt you enjoy, many of our Frozen Yoghurts meet and even exceed the requirements set forth by the different legislative organizations globally.

These cultures are probiotic which means they are considered beneficial to be present in the intestinal tract of the human body to insure proper balance needed for digestion and good health because live, active cultures can:

  • Help to overcome lactose intolerance
  • Aid digestion of milk protein
  • Help prevent and combat digestive tract infections

Other new exciting effects of yoghurt found in recent research demonstrates the following (and is currently being researched more thoroughly):

  • The potential that yoghurt can help boost the immune system
  • An indication that yoghurt may be useful in lowering serum cholesterol
  • Yoghurt´s potential in the prevention and management of certain cancers

Probiotic yoghurt cultures frequently used in yoghurts include: S. thermophilus, L. bulgaricus, L. lactis and L. acidophilus. These cultures are handled with the utmost care to ensure their survival in to the point where you, the consumer buys a delicious frozen yoghurt. That way, you get the full health benefit of the probiotic bacteria in a delicious icy cold tart yoghurt.

The presence of yoghurt cultures alone does not constitute true frozen yoghurt, although it is an important part. To learn more about the specifics of certain yoghurts, please check other parts of our website.  Frozen yoghurt is a good source of…

  • Protein
  • Calcium
  • Potassium
  • The vitamins B12 and Riboflavin

Frozen Yoghurt can be enjoyed in many different exciting ways. Ask for yours on fruit salad (the flavours are a great match), or in a cup with some fruit flavoured topping or fruit puree, or just plain – either in a cup or on a cone. So will thoroughly enjoy all of these options! Some stores may also offer flavoured Frozen Yoghurt. Try the Wildberry, Passionfruit or Strawberry or even the Green Tea.

What are Prebiotics?

Prebiotics are a category of functional foof defined as:

Non-digestible food ingredients that beneficially affect the host by selectively stimulating the growth and/or activity of one or a limited number of bacteria in the colon, and thus improve host health.

This may sound complicated. Essentially prebiotics is food for the beneficial bacteria.

You eat it as pert of the yoghurt (and being fibre it is good for you in many ways), the bacteria then digests this prebiotic as its food and their number then increase because of the availability of food for them thereby benefiting you even more! This prebiotic food or fibre is not absorbed by your body and stays in your gastrointestinal tract. Prebiotic foods are natural plant extracts. One of these is called Inulin which is used in some of our yoghurts in order to further enhance the health benefits of our frozen yoghurts.
